After removing all corrosion and repairing the torsion bar tube ends for the spring plate bushings, the "inners" of the longitudinals get protected with zinc-weld-through primer.

To achieve a factory quality undercoating for both sound proofing and corrosion protection takes many steps to get close to a factory finish - the 69-73 Porsche 911s had a grey PVC finish that was very different from the earlier "Short Wheelbase" cars - we work closely with paint shops to accomplish an accurate finish to duplicate the finishes as they cars left the factory - this car here on its way to Precise Refinish in Erie, PA.

Here the rear end of the car with improperly repaired previous accident damage is reconstructed using spot welding for a factory quality repair.

Here this 1970 Porsche 911T and it's panels are finally in paint - in proper single stage light-yellow - hell-gelb, Karman color 62-62, Porsche color 117 - and it looks stunning.

Here the hood, decklid and both doors have been carefully installed and adjusted on this beautifully refinished light yellow - hell-gelb 1970 Porsche 911T - during metalwork and paint a lot of attention is given that the gaps are all as the cars came from the factory - on our paint frame at one of the paint shops we closely work with - here at Precise Refinish in Erie, PA.

Here the car is being loaded into a trailer to spend a vacation for undercoating and paint at one of the paint shops we work with - this car went to Precise Refinish with Phil Palmer in Erie PA.

The "inners" of the longitudinals are acid etched and cleaned for a lasting restoration.

It is very common on older 911s for the torsion bar tubes to deteriorate and new bearing ends for the spring plate had to be welded in on both sides. .

The car on our Celette bench revealed a lot of problems from a not properly repaired rear end collision and some deterioration of the 50-year-old car. Here the car is being pulled straight again - it required several pulls on the Celette bench.

Here the inner rocker panel is replaced using proper spot-welding techniques for a factory quality repair

Current and Past projects

This 1970 Porsche 911T was recovered last year in 2022 after a 30+ year storage - the engine had suffered a failure in 1979 - the owner finally decided to revive and restore the car. Here is how it had been sleeping for over 30 years with the engine at a shop that ended up going under.

Here the car is almost ready with all metal-work repairs, which were extensive. However, the car came out fantastic, it is back perfectly straight, and all gaps and contours are correct - almost ready to leave for paint - some little holes to fill and finish leading to do at this stage.

Here this 1970 Porsche 911T is prepared for epoxy sealer - on our rotisserie at one of the body shops we work with for undercoating and paint - here at Precise Refinish in Erie PA.

When this 1970 Porsche 911T was made, paints were different and high-pressure systems were used that yielded a lot of overspray - here that is simulated using today's technology - however all done in proper single stage paint to duplicate a factory finish - still on our rotisserie at one of the paint shops we closely work with - here at Precise Refinish in Erie PA.

The front suspension-pan and tank support, as well as the battery boxes had suffered acid damage and the front end was properly reconstructed - on our Celette bench.

The now absolutely gorgeous, light yellow - hell-gelb 1970 Porsche 911T and it's parts are back at Thoroughbred Motorsports for assembly. You can see the properly applied blackouts on the inside of the cabin. As can be seen in the third photo in the background, the car is in excellent company joining the assembly of a viper green RSH and several other fabulous Porsche 911s and 930.

After painting this 1970 Porsche 911T is masked off for the black-out areas. It was taped off more like a Porsche built car, the Karman built cars were typically blacked out without edges. The blackout is intended for the dashboard and in all places where there are gaps in the carpet and upholstery so the yellow does not shine through anywhere in the interior. Still on our painting frame at one of the paint-shops we closely work with - here at Precise Refinish in Erie, PA.

Floor replacement on a 1964 356C

The previously non-properly repaired rear end damage and deterioration had to be properly repaired - a lot had to be disassembled to get that accomplished, as wrinkled panels and improper brazed repairs had to be cut out on our Celette bench. Once the car was fully disassembled, it became clear that the car did not come in crystal blue from the factory but was originally a Karman built blood-orange car.

To properly repair any old Porsche 911 the rear longitudinals are opened up and treated and repaired.

Here the longitudinals are closed back up after a proper repair - both sides were done the same way, and inner and outer rocker panels replaced.

Some work needed to be done to the upper body and window openings, and new rear quarter panels were installed. A factory panel was used on the driver's side, and it needed quite a bit of work like re-rolling the front edge to fit properly. As the factory was out of passenger side rear quarter panels, an aftermarket panel was installed, and it required very substantial rework to make it fit properly and to gain the proper contours - lead was used to finish it.
